Help After Hurricane Sandy 


Newspapers, television, and radio have been reporting on where homeowners and businesses can find help in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.  Here are some websites and other information you may find useful.


Senator Gillibrand has provided a report: A Guide to Disaster Assistance and Relief Funding: How to Navigate the Disaster Assistance Process.  This guide provides information for disaster assistance grants, loans, tax credits, and contacts for federal, state, and local government as well as non-profit organizations.  Visit the senator's site to access links for temporary relief and a link to the Guide.


 Visit the IRS Newsroom for current information for tax relief including how “Retirement Plans Can Make Loans, Hardship Distributions to Sandy Victims.”


The IRS has specific information for tax credits and relief for New York Businesses and individuals.


New York State Empire Development site provide resources for disaster relief for businesses.


The New York State Department of Financial Services is available at Cedar Creek Park daily from 8am to 8pm to offer residents advice on how to file an insurance claim for property damage from Hurricane Sandy. Cedar Creek Park is in Seaford on Merrick Road east of Wantagh Avenue.

United States Department of Health and Human Service provides health related services from federal government agencies


New York State Office of Emergency Management offers Hurricane Sandy hotline  links and numbers. 


Also, the Town of Hempstead's Building Department will have a mobile office at Rath Park, 849 Fenworth Blvd., in Franklin Square, from Noon to 6 PM on Friday, December 7, to answer questions, provide permit applications, and discuss regulations.
